Like the title of this Blog proclaims, I am indeed a Generation X father. I went to high school in the 80’s. I didn’t get married until I was nearly 30. I’m overly independent and, even though my teenagers think I’m ancient, I only recently began feeling like I’ve reached “middle age”.
Because I married so late, I lived nearly 10 years as an independent adult, then I got married and over the next 20 years became the father of five children, had two major career shifts, moved to another city, went back to school to get my Masters Degree, became a cancer survivor, and have lived with at least one (and up to 4) teenagers for the past 8 years.
I am starting this Blog because I feel like I have something to say that might help others who are going through similar things that I have experience, but also because it is fun to laugh with and at other peoples’ experiences and I hope that I will have the skill to make people laugh when they read my blogs. I am definitely not a professional writer, so you will experience my stories through a multitude of grammatical errors and interesting word usages.
Feel free at all times to comment on my blogs – even if it’s just to remind me that I’m an idiot. Or, preferably, to tell your own stories or just say “Hi!”.
